The mission for Charleston Junior Football League and Cheerleading Program, as a non-for-profit community sports program, in cooperation with the Charleston Recreation Department program, is to organize a fun and safe recreational football and cheerleading program for 5th grade through 8th grade children, schedule and organize youth football games, select coaches provide equipment and facilities, organize fundraising events to promote the program and ensure that our code of ethics and bylaws are maintained and enforced.
The JFL Board typically is scheduled to meet the third Wednesday of each month at 6pm at the JFL fieldhouse.
The vision of the Charleston Junior Football League and Cheerleading Program is to provide Charleston’s community youth an opportunity to engage in competitive, full contact football and cheerleading in a supervised environment. We envision familiarizing athletes with the fundamentals of football and cheering, while teaching them that academics and athletics can be a joint, communal effort. We strive to instill teamwork, good sportsmanship and self-discipline, while building confidence and respect for one’s self and one’s opponent. These values are expected not only of our athletes, but from our parents, families, and spectators.
